This modular smart card reader and writer expansion pack is designed specifically for the Panasonic TOUGHBOOK G2 tablet series. Fitting directly into the tablet rear expansion bay, it enables secure hardware-based user authentication, credential verification, and data encryption for professional environments.

The unit accepts contact Smart Cards and Common Access Cards inserted with the chip facing downwards. It fully supports ISO 7816 Class A, B, and C cards at 5 V, 3 V, and 1.8 V, reading and writing to ISO 7816-1, -2, -3, and -4 microprocessor cards using T=0 and T=1 communication protocols at speeds up to 826 Kbps.

Featuring a lightweight xPAK form factor, the module can be quickly swapped out using the integrated quick-release lever or fixed securely in place using an optional locking screw.
